# Get started

> Get your invite code, install Cloudroom, and run your first AI coding agent.

Get an invite code, create your account, and install Cloudroom. Then connect a coding agent and give it a task.

## What you need

- A Mac or Linux computer.
- An invite code. [Join the waitlist](/#waitlist) to get one, or ask a friend who uses Cloudroom.
- At least one coding agent you can sign in to: Claude Code, Codex, or Pi Agent.
- A subscription or API key for that agent's model provider. Cloudroom does not bill for model calls.

## Get access

1. [Join the waitlist](/#waitlist). We send invite codes in waves.
2. [Create your account](/login) with GitHub, Google, or email.
3. Enter your 8-letter invite code. Each code works once.
4. Download Cloudroom from your dashboard and move it to your Applications folder.

## Run your first agent

1. Open Cloudroom and click **Log in**. Confirm your account in the browser.
2. Add a project: pick a folder on your Mac, usually a Git repository.
3. Start a new thread. Pick a harness, a model, and **Local** or **Cloud**.
4. If the harness is not connected yet, click **Connect** and sign in with your own account.
5. Type your task and send it. Follow the agent's replies and tool calls live.

> **Tip:** Send follow-up messages while the agent works. On Local threads they steer the running turn.

Pick **Cloud** when the work should keep going after you close your laptop. Read [Cloud threads](/docs/cloud-threads) to learn how sandboxes, branches, and sleep work.

## Use the CLI

The app ships with the `room-cli` command-line tool. Agents running in Cloudroom get it automatically, so they can manage threads too.

```sh
room-cli status --json
room-cli thread tell THREAD_ID "Also add tests for this"
```
